7 questions to ask your airconditioning company

Having trouble finding a good airconditioning company? We’ve compiled a list of key questions to ask your AC company when you call.

Make sure the person on the other end knows what they’re talking about and can answer these 7 important questions:

  1. How long has the company been in business?

A reputable airconditioning company should be well established – at least 10 years or more. If it’s too new, that could mean that it lacks experience and may not know how to handle problems effectively. That said, some newer companies do excel in their work and offer top-notch services; however, this is less likely to be the case with small or one-man operations. Before hiring an aircon service provider, research its track record and history of operation.

  1. What aircon services do you offer?

An airconditioning company should be able to offer a variety of services related to home and commercial AC’s, including installation, repair, and maintenance.

  1. What guarantee do you offer on your air conditioning work?

Reputable companies will provide warranties for their installations and services. This is important so that if something goes wrong with an installed unit or part, you can go back to the company instead of having to pay someone else to fix it later. If they don’t offer any sort of warranty or guarantee on their labor/services, move on – there are companies out there who do!

  1. What certifications do your technicians have?

It’s important to hire an AC company that employs technicians who are certified by reputable, industry-recognized organizations. This certification verifies their knowledge and skills in the trade. The two most common certifications are:

  • NATE, the National Air Duct Cleaners Association
  • HVAC Excellence Award, which is given to companies that meet or exceed 200 hours of training on all aspects of heating ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
  1. Can you provide me with references?

The right aircon company will be more than happy to give you the contact information of previous clients. Ask about your potential providers’ experience working in commercial buildings similar in size, design, layout, and function to yours. Make sure that clients are comfortable speaking honestly about their experiences with these potential service providers – this is a key factor that should help you choose between two or three options!

  1. Can I have a written estimate/quotation?

Before beginning work on your building, an honest airconditioning company will offer you a written estimate specifying the costs involved in performing necessary services. After giving an estimate they’ll explain what’s included and what factors may affect the final cost (i.e.: possible replacement parts, on-site work required, etc.).

  1. Can I see the company’s license and insurance information?

Make sure that all companies you’re considering hiring are properly licensed, insured, and registered with the appropriate state or federal body – this means that if anything happens during project completion they’ll be held liable. If your AC service provider is unregistered or untraceable, then it probably isn’t a good idea to hire them.

Wrapping up

When you’ve found an airconditioning company that meets these criteria (as well as any other requirements you may have), you’ll know that you’ve made a good choice. Your AC system will be installed by qualified technicians who will provide the appropriate warranty and guarantee, keeping you safe from any sort of wasteful expenditure.
